Patti Womack, the dead on arrival type of witness.
What could Maria DeLarosa, Jennifer Wilmott and or Kirk Nurmi have been thinking subjecting this lady to the very obvious questions Juan Martinez would ask that would be a disaster for her? Then to have the audacity to make a bad faith motion for mistrial when the inevitable happened, she decided to get the hell outta Dodge?
One need not be more sophisticated than a fifth grader writing a paper to discern that she comes with, how shalI I say this politely.....baggage.
It was well known at the time that Nurmi frequently watched HLN throughout the trial. He quoted various guests on several ocassions to the court. Therefore, the fact that she sold photos of herself and Jodi Arias to them, et al was public knowledge.
The topics being discussed would be the time period she knew Jodi Arias. Yes, if you are selling a photo of Jodi and in plain sight in the photo are three lines of cocaine on the side table, you can bet all the money in your pockets that will wind up in one of the top three questions. Mr. Martinez does his homework. He does it very very well. He would know more about their witnesses than Patti Womack's parents by the time she was sworn in and took a seat.
After her name and when did she first meet Jodi another likely question would be what do you do for a living. Let's assume the answer is she is on public assistance. Her selling photos for what was likely thousands of dollars is NOT something that would bode well for her continued ability to get public assistance since the chances of her having reported that income are likely remote. Indeed five minutes into the depo that is the case. Yikes!
With over 2.5 MILLION dollars and over five years, searching the world over for a witness for Jodi Arias, this is what they came up with, Patti Womack? It is borderline malpractice.
This witness not only would do herself no good by testifying,
wait for it........
she would do the defendant harm by testifying.
You just can't make this stuff up!!
She did not even believe Jodi had a bad background, or her parents were abusive. Indeed she told Mr. Martinez, "Jodi had a very good background growing up."

I have to repeat myself, You Just Can't Make This Stuff Up!
Once the judge gave yet another resounding DENIED, Kirk Nurmi asked to withdraw from the case.
Denied.
Then a Motion to Stay.
Could that be a like scenario again this week. Another would be witness bit the dust. Nurmi asks for mistrial based on that and yet another Motion to Stay?
